October 2005 - January 2006: John and Sandy Scrogham spent 4 months helping hurricane relief efforts through the Coast Guard Auxiliary and FEMA in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida.

These boats outside of New Orleans were washed 600 ft inland.

Casino that used to be on the water now sits 300 feet. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, Mississippi had no casinos on land.

This man rode out Hurricane Camille so decided to try again with Hurricane Katrina. He and his son were stranded in trees after his home was destroyed, but escaped onto this boat as it floated by.

Florida: PYC Member Brian Witcher at home. He was paid $500 to help salvage boats after Hurricane Wilma, but cut his hand on a ripped piece of stainless steel during a salvage dive in murky water.

SUV that must have had good tires. The numbers indicate that this car was checked out by rescue workers and no bodies were found.
