TRAVIS MARINA SAIL TRAINING
SAILING LESSONS
Travis Sailing Center at Travis Marina is an American Sailing Association (ASA) certified sail training program offering Basic Keelboat Sailing, Basic Coastal Cruising, and when available, Bareboat Chartering, Coastal Navigation and Advanced Coastal Cruising. Sailboat rentals are available upon class completion and demonstrated boat-handling proficiency. The sail training program is open to all active duty, reserve, and retired US Armed Services, Coast Guard, federal civilian, NPS, and CG Auxiliary members. Sail training is open to the general public on a space-available basis.
All course fees are $215 with all classroom materials provided. Sailing gloves are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for every class and can be purchased at any local boating supply store. (Fingerless weightlifting, cycling or sport gloves that protect the palm may also be acceptable.) In addition, each student should bring water, sunglasses, cap, sunscreen, slip-resistant shoes and layered clothing to allow for changing weather on the San Francisco Bay. Students may bring a bag lunch or purchase burgers at the upstairs lounge. No reservation will be confirmed or guaranteed until payment of class fees is received. Rescheduling of coursework is allowed ONLY with PRIOR approval is subject to a $30 rescheduling fee.

ASA Basic Keelboat Standard (101)
This is a four day, sixteen hour, American Sailing Association (ASA) certified course, which introduces the student to San Francisco (SF) Bay sailing. This class emphasizes boat safety and small to intermediate sailboat operation. In this class, the student will learn the terminology of sailing, sailboat handling, use of auxiliary engines, basic sail adjustments, responsibilities and roles of the crew, safety, and the Rules of the Road within SF Bay. Successful class completion and demonstration of basic skills will earn the student an ASA certification, usable at any sail center worldwide. Class enrollment is limited to 6 students. All dates subject to instructor availability.

ASA Basic Coastal Cruising Standard (103)
This is a three day, twelve hour, American Sailing Association (ASA) certified course, which introduces the student to the San Francisco (SF) Bay sailing in a 27-foot sailboat in moderate seas and weather. In this class, students learn terminology of larger sailboats, the Rules of the Road within the SF Bay, intermediate skills and techniques such as anchoring, sail adjustment, and use of an auxiliary engine. Successful class completion and demonstration of skills will earn the student an ASA certification, usable at any sail center worldwide. Class enrollment is limited to 4 students. All dates subject to instructor availability.

The Travis Sailing Center offers these advanced courses depending upon student demand, vessel availability, and instructor availability. Successful class completion and demonstration of skills will earn the student an ASA certification, usable at any sail center worldwide.
